Shivam Dube: The Journey of a Resilient All-Rounder


Early Life & Education


Shivam Dube was born on 26th June 1993 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His father, Rajesh Dube, originally hails from Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, and moved to Mumbai in search of a better future. Shivam completed his schooling from Hansraj Morarji Public School and graduated from Rizvi College, Mumbai.


From a very young age, Shivam had a deep-rooted passion for cricket. However, at the age of 14, he had to pause his cricket journey due to weight issues and financial challenges. But destiny had different plans. At 19, he made a solid comeback and soon earned a spot in the Mumbai Under-23 team.


Domestic Career


Shivam made his T20 debut in the 2015-16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In 2018, during a Ranji Trophy match, he grabbed national attention by hitting five consecutive sixes in an over — a moment that defined his aggressive batting style. His all-round abilities – powerful hitting and handy medium pace – made him a dependable player in the domestic circuit.


IPL Career


In the 2019 IPL auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for a massive Rs. 5 crore. Later, he played for Rajasthan Royals and then found a strong footing with Chennai Super Kings. In IPL 2023, he was a standout performer, scoring 418 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 38.00.


International Career


Shivam made his T20I debut for India on 3rd November 2019 against Bangladesh. Just a month later, he made his ODI debut on 15th December 2019 versus West Indies.


He was also a crucial part of India’s squad in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. In the final against South Africa, his 27 runs off 16 balls played a key role in India’s historic win.


Personal Life


On 16th July 2021, Shivam married his long-time girlfriend Anjum Khan. The couple was blessed with a son, Ayaan, on 13th February 2022, and a daughter, Mehwish, on 3rd January 2025.
